Complete Onboarding Walkthrough

Welcome to Outrank! Our onboarding process is designed to help you set up your SEO strategy and content engine in just a few minutes. By the end of this walkthrough, you'll have a fully configured account ready to generate high-quality, SEO-optimized articles tailored to your business.

Step 1: Website Analysis

The first step is to provide your website URL. Outrank uses AI to scan your site and automatically extract key information about your business, products, and services.

  • Enter your website URL (e.g., https://yourdomain.com).

  • Click Analyze Website.

During this process, you'll see status messages like "Scanning your website data" and "Identifying target audiences." This usually takes about 30 seconds.

Step 2: Business Details

Based on the analysis, we'll pre-populate your business profile. Please verify and complete the following fields:

  • Business Name: Ensure this matches your brand (2-50 characters).

  • Language & Country: Select the primary language and market you are targeting.

  • Description: Provide a detailed description of your business (minimum 50 characters). This helps our AI understand your unique value proposition.

The website URL cannot be changed once your profile is created. If you need to use a different domain, you will need to create a new product in your dashboard.

Step 3: Audience & Competitors

To generate effective keywords and content, we need to understand who you are targeting and who you are competing against.

  • Target Audiences: Add between 3 and 7 specific audience segments (e.g., "Small business owners," "Marketing managers").

  • Competitors: Provide 3 to 7 competitor URLs. We'll analyze their content to find gaps and opportunities for your site.

You can use the Generate with AI button to get suggestions for audiences and competitors based on your website analysis.

Step 4: Blog Configuration

Next, tell us where your blog is hosted and how we can find your existing content.

  • Sitemap URL: Provide your XML sitemap (e.g., yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml). This helps us index your existing posts.

  • Blog Root URL: This is the base URL where your blog posts live (e.g., yourdomain.com/blog).

  • Article Examples (Optional): Provide up to 3 URLs of your best articles. Our AI will analyze these to mimic your writing style.

You can also connect your Google Search Console at this step to provide even deeper insights into your current SEO performance.

Step 5: Articles Settings

Configure the default look and feel of the articles Outrank will generate for you.

  • Article Style: Choose a tone and style that matches your brand voice.

  • Internal Links: Set how many internal links (0-5) should be included in each article.

  • Branding: Set your brand color (Hex code) and preferred image style for AI-generated graphics.

  • Feature Toggles: Enable or disable features like Auto-publish, Videos, Infographics, and CTAs.

Step 6: CMS Integration

The final step is to connect your Content Management System (CMS) so Outrank can publish articles directly to your site. We support a wide range of platforms, including:

  • WordPress (via Plugin or WordPress.com)

  • Shopify

  • Wix

  • Webflow

  • Ghost

  • Notion

If you're not ready to connect your CMS yet, you can click Skip & Get Started to finish the onboarding and set up integrations later from your dashboard.

Once you complete these steps, you'll be redirected to your dashboard where you can start generating your first SEO-optimized articles!
