Common Login and Authentication Issues

If you're having trouble signing in to Outrank, don't worry. Most authentication issues can be resolved in just a few steps. This guide covers common login problems, error messages, and how to get back into your account.

Authentication Methods

Outrank offers two primary ways to sign in to your account:

  • Continue with Google: Use your existing Google account for a quick, one-click login.

  • Magic Link (Email): Enter your email address to receive a secure, passwordless login link directly in your inbox.

We recommend using the same method every time you log in to ensure you're accessing the correct account and workspace.

Troubleshooting Magic Links

The Magic Link is the most common source of sign-in issues. If you're not receiving your link or it isn't working, try these steps:

1. Check your Spam or Junk folder

Sometimes, authentication emails are filtered by your email provider. If you don't see the email in your inbox within 2 minutes, check your Spam folder.

2. Handle "Expired Link" errors

Magic links are temporary and expire for security reasons. If you see an error saying "Your login link has expired," simply return to the sign-in page and request a new one.

Always use the most recent magic link sent to your inbox. If you request multiple links, only the latest one will work.

Common Error Messages

Here are some common errors you might encounter and what they mean:

  • "An error occurred during sign in": This is a generic error. It usually happens due to a temporary connection issue. Try refreshing the page and signing in again.

  • "Your invitation link has expired": If you were invited to an organization, the link may have timed out. Please contact your administrator to send a new invitation.

  • "Access Denied": This can happen if you are trying to sign in with an email address that hasn't been registered or invited yet.

Account Access & Dashboard Issues

If you can sign in but cannot access your dashboard or certain features, it may be related to your account status:

  • Subscription Status: If your subscription is "past due" or has been cancelled, access to the dashboard may be restricted.

  • Usage Limits: If you have reached your hard limit for AI queries, some features may be temporarily disabled until your next billing cycle.

If you believe your account is in good standing but still can't access your data, try clearing your browser's cache and cookies, then sign in again.
